What they do
Bastet Beauty is a family cattery in Belgrade, breeding three Russian breeds (Neva Masquerade, Siberian, and Russian Blue) since 2014, with champion bloodlines registered with WCF and TICA. By the time of the rebuild they had eighteen breeding and show cats and more than a dozen litters behind them. It's a small, reputation-driven business where the animals and their pedigrees are the whole story: visits are by appointment, and families reserve a kitten by joining the waiting list.
Our role
We rebuilt the site and look after it, end to end. The breeding, the photography, and the words are the family's; the platform and every update since are ours. In practice they send us a new litter's photos or a piece of news, and we ship it.
The challenge
The cattery had outgrown an aging WordPress site. A decade of content (eighteen cats, a dozen-plus litters, breed guides, a blog) was slow to serve and awkward to update. The waiting list is the lifeline of the business, but submissions only fired off a plugin email: no durable record, no confirmation to the applicant, nothing both owners could see. And ten years of pages were indexed by Google, so a careless move would have wiped out their search presence overnight.
What we built
A calmer, faster site where adding a new litter is as simple as dropping in photos and writing a few lines: no database to administer, nothing the family could break. The waiting-list form now does three things on every submission: it alerts both owners, sends the applicant a branded confirmation, and saves the lead to a shared spreadsheet so nothing is ever lost. Every old web address was carefully pointed at its new home, so a decade of Google ranking survived the switch intact. The whole thing is genuinely accessible, re-checked automatically on every change, and fast by construction, with almost no JavaScript.
One detail mattered more than any of the engineering: a gentle "in loving memory" treatment for the cats the family has lost. We built it carefully, on their timeline.
Results
- Off WordPress with the full back-catalog of web addresses preserved, so no drop in search.
- Every kitten inquiry now produces an owner alert, a confirmation to the applicant, and a saved record both owners can see.
- Genuinely accessible, on every change, desktop and mobile.
